Questions & Answers

Everything you might want to ask

And if it's not here, call us — we answer our own phone.

Getting an offer

Is the appraisal really free?

Yes, always — whether you sell or not. There's no fee, no minimum, and no obligation of any kind. If you don't like the number, you take your items home and owe us nothing.

How do you decide what to pay?

Gold, platinum and silver are priced from the live spot market against tested purity and certified weight. Diamonds and watches are priced against current market comparables for that specific cut, carat, reference and condition. We show you the rate we're working from and itemise every piece rather than giving one lump sum.

Will you beat a pawn shop or another buyer's offer?

Usually, and for a structural reason: we refine in-house, so there's no middleman margin to cover. Bring another written offer and we'll tell you honestly whether we can do better — sometimes the answer is no, and we'd rather say so than waste your afternoon.

Can I get a quote before coming in?

Yes. Use the online quote and give us as much detail as you can — brand, model, karat, carat weight, number of pieces. We'll come back with a realistic range, usually within one business day. The final number is confirmed once we can test and weigh the item in person.

Visiting us

Do I need an appointment?

No — walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. Booking simply means an appraiser will be free the moment you arrive, which is worth doing if you're bringing a large collection.

What should I bring?

The items themselves, any boxes, papers or certificates you still have, and government-issued photo ID (required by New York law for precious-metal purchases). Missing paperwork is fine and rarely changes what we can pay.

Where exactly are you?

We're at 70 Bowery #1.1, New York, NY 10013 — a secure private office in Downtown Manhattan, minutes from Chinatown, SoHo and the Financial District. We are not a street stand or a storefront solicitor.

What are your hours?

Monday to Thursday 10:00am to 5:00pm, and Friday 10:00am to 3:00pm. We're closed on weekends.

Getting paid

How quickly do I get paid?

The same day, the moment you accept. You choose cash or a secure bank transfer. There's no consignment, no waiting for us to find a buyer, and no cheque in the post.

Is there a limit on how much you'll pay in cash?

Larger purchases are typically settled by bank transfer, both for your security and because of federal reporting requirements on large cash transactions. We'll tell you upfront which applies to your sale.

Do you report purchases?

We comply fully with New York State and federal law for precious-metal dealers, including ID verification and the reporting thresholds that apply. Everything is documented and above board.

What we buy

What kinds of gold do you buy?

10k through 24k in any form — jewelry, chains, broken and scrap pieces, dental gold, coins and bullion. Nothing needs to be wearable or in one piece; damaged gold is worth exactly the same per gram as intact gold.

Which watch brands do you buy?

Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Omega, Breitling, Hublot, Tudor, A. Lange & Söhne and other fine timepieces. Box and papers help the value but are not required — we authenticate the watch itself.

Do diamonds need to be certified?

No. We buy certified and uncertified stones, loose or still set. A GIA report helps us move faster and can support a stronger number, but our gemologists grade the stone in front of you either way.

Do you buy estate collections or bulk lots?

Yes — estate collections, inherited jewelry, and bulk lots from dealers and pawn shops are a large part of what we do. For anything sizeable, book an appointment so we can set aside proper time.

What if my item turns out to be worth very little?

We'll tell you plainly, and explain why. We'd rather you leave with an honest answer and your item than sell you a story. There's never a charge for finding out.
