Ideal Refiners (“we”, “us”) operates idealrefiners.com. We are a precious-metals and jewelry buyer based at 70 Bowery #1.1, New York, NY 10013. This policy covers the website only. Information collected in person at our office when you sell an item is governed by New York State law for precious-metal dealers and by the paperwork you sign at the time.
What we collect
We only collect what you type in. There is no account system and no login for visitors.
- Contact details you give us — your name, email address and, if you provide one, your phone number. These come from the quote walkthrough, the appointment booking form, the contact form, or the chat assistant.
- What you tell us about your item — the free-text description, item type, condition, timeline, and any preferred appraisal date or time you select.
- Your chat conversation — if you use the chat assistant, the transcript is stored alongside your enquiry so our team can pick up where you left off.
- The page you came from — so we know which part of the site prompted the enquiry.
Partially completed forms
Please note: if you enter your name and email or phone number and then leave without finishing, we still keep what you entered, and we may send you a single reminder email with a link to pick up where you left off. We do this because people often get interrupted midway and would rather not start again. You will never receive more than one such reminder, and you can ask us to delete the record at any time using the contact details below.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, bank details, card numbers, or photographs of identity documents through this website. Never send those to us by email or through a web form. Identity verification happens in person at our office, as the law requires.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and give you an appraisal or a quote.
- To confirm and manage an appointment you have requested.
- To send you one reminder if you started a form and did not finish it.
- To keep an internal record of enquiries so our team can follow up properly.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not run advertising retargeting on this site, and we do not add you to a marketing mailing list from a quote or booking request.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers, each of which only handles what it needs to:
- Supabase — hosts the database where enquiries are stored, on servers in North America.
- Resend — delivers the notification and confirmation emails.
- Sevalla — hosts the website itself.
- Anthropic— powers the chat assistant. Messages you type into the chat are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a reply. Do not enter sensitive personal information into the chat.
- Google Analytics — if enabled, provides aggregate traffic statistics. It is not used to identify you personally.
We will also disclose information where we are legally required to, for example in response to a valid legal request or where reporting obligations apply to precious-metal transactions.
Cookies
The website itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If Google Analytics is enabled, it sets its own cookies to measure aggregate traffic; you can block these with your browser settings or a blocker without affecting the site. Your browser's local storage may be used to hold a draft you are part-way through typing, so you do not lose it. That stays on your own device.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are retained for as long as needed to serve you and to keep an accurate business record, and are reviewed periodically. If you ask us to delete your enquiry, we will do so unless we are legally required to keep a record of a completed transaction.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email [email protected] or call (347) 970-1562 and we will handle it. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We apply the same approach to everyone: ask, and we will show you or delete it.
Security
Enquiries are stored in a database that is not publicly readable, and access to our back office is restricted to named members of our team with individual logins. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive identity or financial information through this website.
Children
This site is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. New York law requires sellers of precious metals to be adults with valid photo identification.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on the page rather than buried.
